Welcome to Midwest Happy Campers- Bob, Denise and our furry camping companion, Addison! We hope to become your go-to destination for all things RV camping in the heartland of America. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or just dipping your toes into the camping scene, our blog is here to inspire, inform, and connect you with the beauty and adventure that await in the Midwest. But let's set the record straight from the get-go, we are not experts. We just love to hit the road, explore new places, and enjoy the outdoors.

As long-time tent campers, our journey into RV camping began a few years back when we found ourselves sitting at a campsite in Door County, Wisconsin, surrounded by the breathtaking fall colors of early October. The day promised a cozy evening by the campfire with friends, but Mother Nature had other plans. Suddenly, the wind picked up, temperatures plummeted, and our idyllic scene turned into a chilly ordeal. Even our trusty beef stew couldn't withstand the cold! That night, bundled up in our tent, we knew something had to change. "I'm done," were the first words out of Denise's mouth the next morning. And just like that, the decision was made - it was time to trade our tent for a travel trailer. Now with a warm and comfy place to sleep, and all the other comforts of a home on wheels, we have found ourselves camping more than ever.

As much as we'd love to roam the country endlessly, reality beckons, and work ties us to our home in Palatine, a northwest suburb of Chicago. However, that hasn't stopped us from exploring places within a day's drive from home. And thus, DRL Rentals was born. We decided to share our love for camping by renting out our first travel trailer, christened "Pastime" after Bob's grandfather's tavern in Chicago. The response was overwhelming, prompting us to expand our fleet with another trailer, "Pinetree Retreat," paying homage to Dee's grandparents' lake house.

At DRL Rentals, our mission is simple - to help families and friends create lasting memories while experiencing the beauty of the great outdoors in comfort. But we aim to be more than just a rental business. We like to get to know our renters, answer questions and provide helpful hints. We love exploring new destinations and sharing our adventures and experiences.
